Job description

The Account Executive for the South European region, reporting directly to the CCO, will be responsible for driving sales and managing strategic accounts across Southern Europe, with a focus on Spain, France and Italy. The ideal candidate should possess a background in DSO/TSO or related industries, with a strong understanding of the market dynamics, regulatory environment, and Decision-Making Unit (DMU) structure of DSOs in this region. They must also have an established and active network in the energy market.

The candidate, should have experience managing long sales cycles and be proficient in both hunting for new business and farming existing accounts. Familiarity with Value-Based Selling, Strategic Selling, or Account-Based Selling is crucial.

This role requires a highly driven, adaptable professional who thrives in a fast-paced, scale-up environment and can work effectively both independently and collaboratively. This is a fully remote position, based in Southern Europe. The ability to work remotely and travel extensively within Southern Europe and to company headquarters is essential.

Language Skills

  • Fluency in Spanish and/or Italian is required.

  • Proficiency in English is also necessary for internal communication and reporting

Key Responsibilities

1. Account Development and Management

  • Identify and secure new business opportunities in Spain, Italy, and surrounding markets, leveraging existing industry networks.

  • Develop and manage relationships with key stakeholders in DSO/TSO organizations, ensuring Oktogrid’s solutions are tailored to address market-specific challenges.

  • Use a combined hunter and farmer approach, driving new customer acquisition while expanding relationships with existing accounts.

2. Sales Strategy and Execution

  • Implement Value-Based Selling strategies to effectively communicate Oktogrid’s value proposition, addressing the unique needs of the Southern European market.

  • Manage complex sales processes with long sales cycles, ensuring consistent engagement and strategic follow-ups to close deals.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product development and marketing, to align strategies and tailor solutions to the market.

3. Expertise and Networking

  • Stay informed on the latest DSO/TSO market trends, regulatory developments, and competitor activities in Southern Europe.

  • Engage actively with industry networks, attending conferences and events to promote Oktogrid’s brand and identify new opportunities.

  • Serve as an expert on Southern European market dynamics, providing valuable insights to inform Oktogrid’s business strategy.

4.Sales Process Management

  • Maintain an organized sales pipeline, using CRM tools to track progress and report on key metrics and forecasts.

  • Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations and proposals, tailored to the needs of potential and existing clients.

  • Conduct regular account reviews, identifying opportunities to maximize revenue and deepen client relationships.

5. Remote Work and Travel

  • Work remotely from a location in Southern Europe, managing a flexible schedule to prioritize client needs and strategic sales activities.

  • Be prepared to travel frequently within Spain, Italy, and occasionally to Oktogrid’s headquarters to meet with clients and align with the internal team.

Compensation Details

  • Base Salary: €60,000 to €70,000 annually, based on experience and expertise.

  • On-Target Earnings (OTE): A commission-based structure with OTE earnings up to 30% of the base salary in variable pay, linked to key sales performance metrics.

Profile of the ideal candidate

  • Minimum 5–8 years of experience in a B2B sales role, with a proven track record in new business development and account management.

  • Background in or direct commercial experience with DSOs, TSOs, grid operators, or related energy infrastructure industries is a must.

  • Established and active network within the energy sector in Spain and/or Italy.

  • Demonstrated experience managing complex, long sales cycles (12–24 months) in a B2B environment.

  • Familiarity with Value-Based Selling, Strategic Selling, or Account-Based Selling methodologies.

  • Experience working with CRM systems (Oktogrid uses HubSpot) for pipeline management and reporting.

  • Fluent in English and Spanish or Italian is required. French is a plus.

  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently within Southern Europe
